Similar in concept to the original Ultima Online but with updated graphics and gameplay and player housing and player driven economy.  Merges some ideas in from Eve Online I think as well where you can buy stuff in one town and then try to sell it in another town for more money.  The more dangerous the trip the more money you could make.  Appears to have the world carved into zones that are either Safe, Dangerous or Full PvP.

Anyone else interested?!  This looks like it could be pretty darn good.  Pre-pay beta access starts later this month.

Latest twitter feed I read actually states that the developer is borrowing many of the ideas from Eve Online and forming them into a fantasy based MMO.  The lead developer said the same thing in a forum post at mmorpg.com so it seems that is the plan.  Eve Online in a fantasy world.

I liked Eve Online.  This could be good.

Looks interesting. I'm assuming it will have a wipe at end of alpha and again at end of beta..heard anything for sure? Was surprised to see you could get into alpha on the pre-order founders thing...not sure I would consider that a good move. In my experience a lot of people who start a game in alpha don't like the game anymore by the time it gets to live.

Not sure I would plunk down cash to get into a beta unless it was one that won't be wiped ;)

This does look very interesting indeed. If they are successful in Eve's tiered approach to zones it could work out well.

I'm not going to "buy into" alpha or beta in any game any more ( my intent anyway. :)  ).

The current closed alpha happening now will end late July at which point beta will start in roughly August/September.  I was going to see how the alpha goes, grab some good gameplay youtube links and publish them here.  If we gather enough interest a bunch of us could purchase the $30 founders edition which gets you some perks and access to the beta and 30 days of premium account status and some gold.  We can all hop into beta, get our feet wet and learn the mechanics and then when it goes live in the fall we are ready to hit the ground running.

Roles in the guild would be divided out since we would need dedicated armorsmiths, gatherers, farmers, weaponsmiths, leatherworkers, carpenters, etc etc.  Those interested in PvP could do scouting and research into the pvp zones and see what sort of high value resources are there to try and grab with minimal risk.  We of course would need the usual tank roles, healer roles, ranged damage and melee damage.  I believe crowd control also plays a part and we might need a dedicated CC person or two.

You can own land in the game, we can try and buy some plots in a specific area and open up shops and repair stations and business stuff.  I will be opening a brothel, don't know about the rest of you

My biggest concern for this game: It's being made to work on multiple platforms including tablets. This usually means the game has to be dumbed down a lot on PC so it doesn't have an advantage over the rudimentary controls you can get on a tablet. I don't enjoy RPG's that have the very simple and minimal combat generally found on tablet games so hoping it's not being done as I imagine.

The combat looks decent but the main draw wont be the combat but the player driven economy and the trading and escorting and defending of areas and such.  It's a different sort of MMO for sure, I'm hoping it works out.

I pre-ordered this with the $30 founders pack so I could get into the beta in November.  Anyone else want to join me?  If this game mixes the best aspects of Ultima Online with Eve Online it should be a big hit.  I'm hoping we can get enough people interested so that we can have a dedicated farmer, blacksmith and weaponsmith.  The skills are pretty specific however so it's not that you would become an armorsmith who can make any armor but you would be specialized in certain armor (leather, cloth or plate).  Same for weapons, it might be ideal for a small guild to be clones of each other.  If we all wore leather armor and used 1 handed axes then we just need 1 armorsmith for leather and 1 weaponsmith for 1 handed axes and we could propel those two up in crafting pretty fast by feeding him/her all raw materials.

Almost forgot!  If you do decide to buy a founders pack use my referral link:

https://albiononline.com/?ref=ZQQ69TTSYZ

I'll split the extra gold they give me with you if you use it and then we all benefit.

Since I'm in the upcoming beta I want to try and get a guild going but I dont want to assume anything so here are my options.

A) Recruit for Justice Incarnate

B) Join a friendly other guild

C) Play the closed beta alone

I guess this leads me to asking if I even should be recruiting for Justice Incarnate?  Tats used to be our main guild recruiter but since I'm not sure she is interested in Albion Online that means someone else should fill in.  I'm presuming JI isn't overly interested in the game which is fine but then as a JI member I need to figure out what to do in these cases of an MMO coming out that isn't an official Justice Incarnate approved game :)

You are totally free to do as you like Kanzig. If there are others from JI that want to play, and you guys want to start a small guild and recruit in game...  that is totally fine.

If you want to join a guild of others, then that is fine as well. Based on the level of interest here, I would imagine this second option is your best bet.
